Customized Contingency Planning Programs for Department of Defense (DoD) Contractors

Arlington is a leading provider in developing highly customized Business Continuity Disaster Recovery Planning/Contingency Planning (BCDRP/CP) programs for DoD contractors. Per NIST 800-34, “Information system contingency planning represents a broad scope of activities designed to sustain and recover critical system services following an emergency event. Information system contingency planning fits into a much broader security and emergency management effort that includes organizational and business process continuity, disaster recovery planning, and incident management.”

Contingency Plans – A Strict Requirement for DoD Contractors

For DoD contractors implementing the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF), developing a contingency plan (per NIST 800-53, CP-2 requirements) is a must. Arlington has years of experience working within the broader Defense Industrial Base (DIB) in helping DoD and other federal contractors in designing, documenting, implementing, and testing their contingency plans.
A well-developed contingency plan is much more than a simple policy or procedures document – rather – it requires thoughtful consideration on dozens of critical issues related to the broader topic of Business Continuity Disaster Recovery Planning/Contingency Planning (BCDRP/CP). Additionally, such a plan must be tested annually as required by various regulations, but also as a best practice.

Talk to the Experts when it Comes to BCDRP/CP Programs

Organizations today are faced with ever-growing threats, ranging from cybersecurity to environmental hazards, and more. It’s therefore critical to have in place documented Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Planning/Contingency Planning (BCDRP/CP) initiatives. Disasters do happen, thus the ability to continue to operate as an organization – and to ultimately recover from a disaster – is essential.

Phase I: Scoping & Analysis

A well-developed Business Continuity Disaster Recovery Planning/Contingency Planning (BCDRP/CP) programs requires thoughtful pre-planning in terms of what the actual program should cover, personnel and departments involved in both developing and undertaking training for the program, execution, oversight and maintenance of the program, and more.

Phase II: Development

Putting the pieces together for such a program requires documenting various aspects of the BCDRP/CP program itself, such as roles and responsibilities, plan testing, training, strategy, and much more.

Phase III: Testing

The program is only as good as its ability to be properly executed and working as designed. Testing, therefore, is a critical element of the overall development of the program. From basic tabletop exercises to full implementation simulated testing, our experts work with your organization to develop and test the program.
